This is the summary of activities accomplished by ECBL/TENGAMARA RWANDA according to action plan submitted to RGB(Rwanda Governance Board).
1. Selection of project beneficiaries in Cyanika, Gasaka and Tare Sectors in Nyamagabe District (Identification of schools, ECDs, Teachers, and Caregivers)
In collaboration with District officials and local leaders, in the period from July 2022-to October 2022 in September ECBL/TENGAMARA RWANDA selected the beneficiaries of the Work for Bright Future (WBF) at community level ( Inteko z’abaturage) project as follows:
- Schools: GS Kiyumba, EP Kiyumba and EP Mugombwa in Cyanika sector and GS Uwinkomo in Tare Sector.
- ECD Centers: Gishike ECD Center in Cyanika sector, Ngiryi ECD Center in Gasaka Center and Kigega ECD Center in Tare Sector.
- Primary teachers: 8 Teachers were selected (Two teachers from each of the forementioned schools (one in lower primary and another one in upper primary).
- Caregivers: 3 Caregivers were selected (one caregiver from each ECD Center)
- Family beneficiaries: .90 families were selected (30 families from Kiyumba cell in Cyanika sector in collaboration with the local leaders and this happened at the community level
2.Coaching and training of ECE and Primary teachers on implementing learner centered methodology in teaching
ECBL/TENGMARA RWANDA organized and conducted 3 days training of 6 Caregivers, and 8 Lower primary teachers as well as 4 Upper primary teachers selected from the selected schools working with Work for Bright Future (WBF) project mainly on teaching methodologies and the usage of teaching materials (TLMs). This training took place in March 2023 at EP Mugombwa in Cyanika sector.
3. Three savings groups (90 families) one group in each sector (made of 30 people) have been established to increase the saving skills, planning, working for the target ability and develop self-reliance value leading to solving problems they encounter related to education of their children.
Three saving groups were established (1 in Cyanika sector, in Gasaka sector and another one in Tare sector) as per Project target. Each group is composed of 30 people (Parents women), as per project theory of supporting the poor families focusing on the mothers to help them fill responsible and financial equipped to support their children’s education. ECBL/TENGAMARA RWANDA provides daily support and training to saving group and Saving group leaders. We also provide capital injection to saving group members to help our beneficiaries to reach to their potential by doing the small income projects:
4. Home based learning and playing materials made for children’s beneficiaries and provided to the beneficiaries
ECBL/Tengamara Rwanda made low cost and even non-cost home based learning and playing materials and provided them to the selected children to have them in their home so as to use them to help them improve their studies including being motivated for learning.
5. Orientation meeting with district officials
ECBL/TENGAMARA RWANDA organized and conducted District Orientation meeting with Nyamagabe District officials on WBF Project focusing mainly on how to support ECE, Lower Primary in literacy and numeracy, how to support poor families and any other category of vulnerable people to help them support their children attend schools regularly in order to fight against school dropout and students’ absenteeism due to different causes. This meeting took place in Nyamagabe district at Golden Monkey hotel. There attended, 3 ESs(Executive Secretaries of Sectors) from implementation area, all members of Nyamagabe District Education Unit (DDE, DEOs) JADF officer and Honorable Vice Mayor in Change of Social affairs, the orientation was held on 29 August 2023
6. Distribution of chickens to family beneficiaries of WBF project.
As per project proposal, ECBL/TENGAMARA RWANDA provided the chicken to project beneficiaries in order to fight against malnutrition and support families in small animal farm rearing as a source of income. This activity took place in Cyanika sector, Kiyumba cell, at Ngiryi village. 60 families were provided chickens (30 Families in Cyanika and 30 in Gasaka), 4 chickens for every family and chicken foods to support the feeding of those chickens. The activity took place in May 2023 in Cyanika and Gasaka
7. Support to the District in relocating the Survivors of the 1994 genocide against the Tusti in new houses by Providing foods to them.
In March 2023, ECBL/TENGAMARA RWANDA supported Nyamagabe District in the inauguration of houses built in Tare sector in Nyamagabe District for the survivors of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi by providing the home basic needs including foods and kitchen utensils and hygiene materials to 11 families.
